Dear Parents and Carers
As we reach the end of this academic year I want to update you on how things are looking at the moment for September. The government have provided us with guidance that is part of the general lifting of restrictions taking place across the country this month and in August.
In September we will no longer be operating in class 'bubbles' or taking part in contact tracing on the pupils’ behalf, but if families need support when reporting a positive case to NHS Test & Trace we will be happy to support you in gathering the necessary information. We will, though, continue to follow the increased hygiene measures and ensure that the school is ventilated as best as is possible.
We will have an 'outbreak management plan' in place should we have a number of positive cases in the school. As now, all who have a positive test will need to self-isolate but the new guidance is that children who are close contacts will not need to self-isolate but take a PCR test and if that is clear then come into school - similarly for staff who have been double vaccinated. Face coverings would be re-introduced as part of the outbreak management plan as will bubbles.
Secondary aged pupils can test twice a week using lateral flow tests and we have supplies of them ready to be distributed.
It will be very important that any child showing symptoms of Covid-19 does not come to school and has a test.
If this guidance changes I will let you know as soon as is possible.
Can I wish you a good summer break and thank you again for your support during this year.
