Dear parents/ carers,
KCC Public Transport need to make you aware of an important change in respect of the transport to/from school for your child.
KCC Public Transport was notified on Monday the 7th of August that the licence issued to CYFS Ltd t/a Turner Cars to operate by Thanet District Council had been suspended as a result of no insurance. This has followed a short period in which concerns were being received by KCC Public Transport and Thanet District Council in regards of the ability of Turner Cars to continue to operate and to deliver the contracted services in September. Despite numerous attempts by KCC Public Transport to contact the directors of Turner Cars we have been unable to do so and consequently seek re-assurance in respect of their ability to trade. On that basis, with the need to ensure transport is in place for your child, we have taken the decision to place Turner Cars in default of contract and to seek replacement providers.
At this stage we do not know why Turner Cars has failed to respond to requests for contact, meet its contract and license requirements, but given information in our possession we do not believe this to be a temporary situation.
In sourcing alternative suppliers we will work closely with the school to ensure transport arrangements are similar to current, that adequate training is available to staff and where feasibly possible we will use staff who previously undertook your child’s transport with Turners.
We fully understand the impact of transport change for your child and can only apologise for the situation that has arisen. Once more information becomes available and new operators have been sourced, we will contact you in due course.
We request that you bear with us during this difficult period and we thank you for your patience.
