Welcome to Storey Class

Our aim in Storey Class is to provide a broad and exciting curriculum that motivates and inspires students in their learning. Students in the class learn from the national curriculum subject areas in ways that are engaging and relevant for their needs.

Classroom teaching is combined with community learning and social experiences, so that students are able to apply their learning in ways that will be useful and functional for them. School is about much more than learning by yourself, and helping students learn how to work together is at the heart of what we do.  As well as helping them build on their independence skills and form strong relationships with both adults and other peers.

We recognize the great potential in all our students and have high expectations for them in all areas of school and community life. Please see our curriculum documents where you will find our topic web and weekly timetable, for some more detail about what we do.

Curriculum information for term 3 and 4.

Information about Term 3 of the school year.

This school term we will be learning about living things as our topic. In world studies we thought it would be interesting to focus on dinosaurs. We will learn about different dinosaurs and prehistoric life. We will be looking at the book “James and the giant peach” in our literacy sessions. Focusing on RSE and puberty in our PSHE sessions – see separate letter about this. Lastly, in science we will be learning about classification of properties by materials.

As part of our learning experience, we will be going to Forest school every Wednesday – starting on Wednesday 3rd (first day back!). The students will be encouraged to bring their snacks, warm clothes and a packed lunch. See separate forest school letter.

Lastly, there are to be no nuts brought into school
